My Winter Everyday Makeup
Sunday 27 November 2016
Autumn is by far my favourite season of the year, so it's with sadness that I admit that winter is now upon us. With the arrival of the bitterly cold weather and with festive inspiration all around me, I've been making little changes to my everyday makeup.
One product that has remained is my holy grail foundation, Estee lauder's Double Wear. I wear this throughout all four seasons because it is just the perfect base for me; it covers my blemishes and acne scarring like no other, it also stays firmly in place all day, which is perfect as I am out of the house for 13 hours on weekdays. I think I will probably be wearing this foundation for all of eternity, or until a drugstore brand manages to replicate the formula (please!)
A product which has been swapped out is the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer which has great coverage but is far too drying for my reptilian winter skin. Instead the L'oreal Paris Lumi Magique Concealer has taken it's place. I have to admit that I don't love this concealer, it's coverage is very light and I don't find it to be easily build-able, however it doesn't dry my skin out or crease at all under my eyes so it's the best option I have currently in my stash. If anyone has any recommendations for a full coverage concealer for very dry skin then please comment below! I have heard good things about Urban Decay's Naked Skin Concealer, so I think that may be my next purchase.
Another new addition to my winter face is the Topshop Glow Highlighter in shade Polished. I liked the idea of a cream highlighter, as with my incredibly dry winter skin I try to avoid using too many powder products. This highlighter is a gorgeous champagne shade and packs a seriously glowy punch as it's so pigmented, a little definitely goes a long way with this one.
The final winter face addition is from NYX, and is their Soft Matte lip cream in the shade San Paulo. Whilst I wouldn't say this is my usual pick for a festive shade, I was looking to make my first ever NYX purchase and this dark rosey pink immediately caught my eye. I had heard that these were great for matte lipstick fans with drier lips, so I had high hopes for the formula, and so far it is certainly living up to this claim! As it gets closer to Christmas I will probably opt for slightly darker, more vampy shades, but for the meantime I'm loving this lipstick.
What are your winter makeup additions?
