3 Beauty Essentials for Fresh, Glowing Skin

Sunday 8 April 2018

Hello strangers! You may have noticed that I took a little (long) break from my blog. Honestly, I've feeling a bit overwhelmed with life, work has been so hectic since I got promoted to a management role and as a result I've been feeling so run-down and uninspired in my free time. I was finally forced to take a break last week when I came down with my first ever bout of Vertigo, so I'm writing this from the comfort of my bed, propped up with pillow, trying to keep my head as still as possible. Life update out of the way, let's get on with the post!

Pixi Glow Tonic*

As we all know, amazing looking skin starts with good skincare, so I like to make sure I always use products which will make my complexion look as healthy as possible. Pixi Glow Tonic is my go to toner for making my skin look more fresh and alive, it helps to take away any dullness and creates a glowing base for my makeup to go on top of.  As an exfoliating toner, a swipe of Glow Tonic will help to remove dead skin cells and other nasties, whilst not being too abrasive. Though I can't guarantee this product will work for absolutely everyone, I have super dry, sensitive skin, and it doesn't cause me any irritation at all.

Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter Complexion Booster*
My skin is far from flawless, which is why I have to rely on full-coverage foundations regardless of the season. My holy grail foundation is Estee Lauder's Double Wear, which covers every single blemish and red patch, but it's also completely matte, taking away any hint of natural glow from my complexion. Enter Charlotte Tilbury's Hollywood Flawless Filter. This complexion booster can be worn in a number of ways, alone, for people with great skin in need of a bit of glow, on top of foundation for extra coverage, or under foundation as a primer, which is how I've been wearing it.

On application the glow giving properties are instantly noticeable, adding an injection of life to my otherwise pasty face, but it's only once I apply my foundation that I really see the magic happen. My usually matte as a chalkboard base suddenly looks dewy and fresh, but the coverage stays as full as ever. As all of my favourite foundations are thick and almost paint like, even the most sparkly primer is usually dulled after a layer of coverage, but somehow the Hollywood Flawless Filter seems to be working alongside my foundation rather than against it. I would recommend this to anyone who loves the coverage of a matte foundation but would still like to achieve a naturally dewy glow.

Clinique Chubby Stick

When it comes to highlighters I'm usually a powder fan, I like the convenience of being able to dust something glittery over my face as the final step of my routine and get that instant hit of shine. However, a couple of weeks ago I remembered that I received a Chubby Stick highlighter as part of a Clinique gift bag so I decided to give it a go ... it was love at first swipe! I decided to use it under my foundation, as I wasn't sure how well it would apply on top of a layer of matte coverage, so I dabbed a little bit onto my cheekbones, nose and chin. I was amazed at how dewy and glossy my skin looked without a hint of glitter, the product was practically untraceable. Once I applied my foundation I was even more impressed, my skin just looked so healthy and natural, without the usual "highlighted" look. I've since been using this under my foundation every single day in combination with the Charlotte Tilbury primer and I have never received more compliments on my skin.

So those are my three essentials for healthy, glowing skin. Are you a fan of the dewy look for springtime?
