The Valentine's Day Makeup Edit

Wednesday 14 February 2018

Valentine's day has never really been my cup of tea, I'm not much of a gushy lovey-dovey person and I believe that you shouldn't need a designated time to show the person you care for how much they mean to you. However, it does provide opportunity to get dressed up (and to shower myself in heart shaped confetti), so I'm going to show you what I will be wearing on my face today.

Charlotte Tilbury Brightening Youth Glow Primer*

A pretty face starts with a healthy base, so today I'll be reaching for Charlotte Tilbury's Brightening Youth Glow. This primer contains ingredients with anti-aging properties, so it's almost like a skincare and makeup product in one. When applied before foundation it adds a healthy dose of glow to my skin, nothing sparkly, just a fresh "lit from within" dewiness. It also helps to even out some of the patchiness and discolouration caused by acne scarring, creating a bright, even base for foundation.

Too Faced Diamond Highlighter

I purchased this highlighter last week from the Too Faced store in Covent Garden, and I've already fallen head over heels in love with it. I have to mention the packaging first, of course, because it's so incredibly beautiful. It's designed to look like an engagement ring box (very fitting for Valentine's) and the actual product is a iridescent block of sparkle, formulated with real crushed up diamonds. This ice white highlight is definitely one for fans of a heavier glow, although it does provide more of a shimmer than a glitter, so it is perfect for daytime wear too.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette

There is no palette better suited for Valentine's Day than the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette. I'm going to opt for quite a vibrant lip this year, so I'll probably use some of the neutral shades (Antique Bronze is calling my name), but you could really go all out with this one and create a gorgeous shimmery red or pink look.

Charlotte Tilbury Miranda May Lipstick

I love a bright lip for Valentine's Day, and Miranda May by Charlotte Tilbury is one of my all time favourite shades. This vibrant pinky red is one of the Matte Revolution formulas in the Hot Lips range, it's incredibly comfortable to wear and stays in place for hours once applied.

Elie Saab - Le Parfum* / Hugo Boss - Boss the Scent *

I've been loving two fragrances this month, both of which are contenders for my Valentine's Day scent. The first, Boss the Scent by Hugo Boss, is described as an "oriental vanilla", containing honeyed peach which gives it a bit of a fruity scent. My second option is another fruity perfume, Elie Saab's Le Parfum, which was sent to me by World Duty Free a couple of weeks ago, and I haven't been able to stop wearing it since.

So those are some of my dreamy Valentine's makeup picks. What will you be wearing?
